Ageing well

Skin ages. The aim isn't to stop it, but to keep skin resilient, even and radiant as it changes.

How skin changes

From our late twenties, collagen production gradually slows and cell renewal takes longer. Years of sun exposure add to it, showing as fine lines, uneven tone and a loss of firmness and glow. Barrier function also tends to weaken, so skin gets drier.

The three pillars

Protect every day with broad-spectrum sunscreen. Renew with retinol, the most studied ingredient for visible ageing. Support with antioxidants and a healthy barrier so skin can tolerate actives and hold moisture.

Start gently, stay consistent

Introduce retinol two or three evenings a week and build up. Pair it with a barrier moisturiser. Consistency over months matters far more than intensity.

SWSkinn provides skincare guidance, not medical diagnosis. If your skin is painful, worsening quickly or you're worried, please see a dermatologist.

Questions

Good to know

When should I start caring for ageing skin?

Daily sunscreen matters at every age. Many people introduce retinol and antioxidants in their late twenties or thirties, but it's never too late to start.

Can I use retinol if my skin is sensitive?

Often yes, if introduced slowly on a well-supported barrier. Start with Restore, then add Vitality two or three evenings a week.

Is retinol safe in pregnancy?

Retinoids are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please speak to your doctor before using Vitality.
